SG Malls, through collaboration with Chlkboard, now informs our users on the current nearby sales. , These nearby sales are accessible in the ‘Sales’ section of the application, and its contents are provided through Chlkboard’s API. 2359 Media, the publisher of SG Malls, is the first app developer to have a published app that uses the Chlkboard service.

Founded by Saumil Nanavati and Bernard Leong, Chlkboard is a location based mobile promotion platform that allows advertisers to alert the customers within their vicinity about their promotions through mobile phone. Chlkboard benefits both advertisers and customers, advertisers can target their customers more precisely and customers can avoid the cost of searching.

2359 Media sees this as opportunity to improve the services provided for our existing customers on the application, and has been delighted by the level of service that Chlkboard provides. “Not only does Chlkboard respond to our request quickly, the advertising revenue derived from Chlkboard is also higher than that of any other third party ad networks,” said Wong Hong Ting, Co-Founder of 2359 Media.

Saumil passing Wenhan the Ad revenue for June 2010

“Unlike other ad networks that we have worked with so far, Chlkboard has been most prompt in paying out to publishers like ourselves,” added Zhou Wenhan, Co-Founder of 2359 Media, who was photographed taking a cheque from Saumil earlier this week.

We are so thrilled that we had a chance to join Incubation Week. We were sort of late entries because word got to us late. We only signed up on the friday before the week itself.

But we did make it for the event and rushed out a 60% feature complete version for the judging day. A week later, we were pleasantly surprised that we won!

Special thanks for Chris Chin at MS who is in charge of introducing developers to the Win Mo 6.5 platform and to Nick Randolph, a Microsoft MVP, whom was our trainer. In addition to the training, the experience sharing that took place between attendees added fresh perspectives and sparked new ideas for possible mobile applications.

From a development perspective, the platform was relatively easy to pick up, and by judging day, the SGMalls WinMo version was 60% feature complete. Right now we are focused on polishing the UI to ensure that the WinMo users have a good an experience as our iPhone users.

Some screenshots to keep you keeps salivating for the release:) If you are interested to be a beta tester, send an email to feedback@2359media.com

Users often use this when they are deciding if a mall has a store that they want to go to. They also use this when they are trying to find their way to a specific store in the mall.

We have over 80% of the iPhone users in Singapore using the application, and on the average it is being used 3 times a week. iPhone users are generally affluent adults who are PMEBs. Everytime someone selects a mall in the application, we have put in a counter to determine which malls are the most popular among iPhone users. Using this counter, we have constructed the chart above. We will publish the top 10 list for every month as a blog post. For next month, I will expect some changes as the new malls are added to SGMalls

UnConference 2009
The unConference is Southeast Asia’s #1 participant-driven, startup-focused event for the web industry. Modeled after Silicon Valley culture, the event attracts industry thought leaders, entrepreneurs, developers and professionals from around Asia. The highlight of unConference is the product-demo segment: where startup founders seek to impress investors and the audience with their latest innovations. A number of our past unConference product-demo alumni have gone on to be nominated in BusinessWeek’s annual Top 25 Asia Entrepreneurs for both 2007 and 2008.
